Key to resistance rating

  • VR=very resistant-no control needed
  • R=resistant-control only needed under high disease pressure
  • S=susceptible-control usually needed where disease is prevalent
  • VS=very susceptible-control always needed where disease is prevalent

Note: Many of these cultivars are not hardy enough for Wisconsin's environmental conditions. Plant only those cultivars capable of surviving winter conditions in your area. See Extension publication Apple Cultivars for Wisconsin (A2105) or your county extension office for information on suitable cultivars.
